The Fathers Love

In 1 John chapter 3, John asks us to consider the incredible love the Father has bestowed upon us: we are called the children of God. We were sinners saved by grace, yet God has welcomed us into His family. Take a moment to think about the quality of that love.

We use the word love easily, but human feelings can change with circumstances. God’s love does not fluctuate with what is happening in our lives or in the world. His love remains the same.

Some people have known only religion or legalism. They imagine God waiting to punish them whenever they step out of line. But His mercy is wonderful, and He is patient with us. Those of us who have experienced the reality of Jesus can show others something of His love and power.

John says, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God” (1 John 3:2, KJV). Now, not only when we get to heaven. If you belong to Christ, you are His child today. John goes on to say that when Jesus appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

I have often wondered what heaven will be like. Our finite minds cannot fully comprehend an infinite God. Whatever glimpses we may have now, I believe the reality will be greater than anything we have imagined.

John also says that everyone who has this hope purifies himself. When you begin to understand the Father’s love and the hope He has given you, you want to live close to Him. His love becomes more than something you know about. It becomes a reality that shapes how you live.

The Father loves you with an incredible quality of love. You are His child now. Let that truth settle deep within your heart.

God bless you richly
